How eSIM support works on GrapheneOS, which Pixel phones qualify, what an independent forum tester reported about no-KYC eSIM sellers in May 2026, and what we have not tested yet.

**Quick answer**

**GrapheneOS eSIM:** yes. GrapheneOS can add an eSIM once you turn on Settings > Network & internet > eSIM support, which is off by default and needs no Google Play. **UnlistedSIM**, a no-ID eSIM seller paid in crypto, delivers a QR code and activation code with no ID and no email, from $1.09. We have not published our own GrapheneOS test yet. A tester on the official GrapheneOS forum posted results for several no-KYC eSIM sellers on 21 May 2026.

## eSIM on GrapheneOS: key facts

| Attribute | Value |
| --- | --- |
| eSIMs already installed | Work by default (baseline eSIM support) |
| Adding and managing eSIMs | Needs proprietary Google functionality, fully disabled by default |
| Where to turn it on | Settings > Network & internet > eSIM support (the toggle persists across reboots) |
| Google Play needed? | No: eSIM management does not depend on Google Play and shares no data with it |
| Phones | 21 devices with official GrapheneOS support (Pixel 6 to Pixel 10 series, Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet); the Pixel Tablet has no mobile network |
| Two active eSIMs | From the Pixel 7, if the carrier allows it (Google) |
| Install methods | QR code, or the activation code (LPA string) typed in |
| UnlistedSIM tested on GrapheneOS? | Not yet: no test published |
| ID / KYC at checkout | None: no ID document, no selfie, no email |
| Payment | Crypto only: BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC, top-up from $10 |

## Does GrapheneOS support eSIM?

Yes, with one switch to turn on. The GrapheneOS usage guide says the system has always shipped with baseline eSIM support: eSIMs installed earlier on the device keep working. To add or manage eSIMs, proprietary Google functionality is needed, and GrapheneOS keeps it fully disabled by default.

The guide adds three points that matter to privacy-minded users:

- eSIM management on GrapheneOS **does not depend on Google Play**, and it never shares data with Google Play, even when Google Play is installed;
- it **does not connect to a Google service** unless the carrier itself uses one;
- the eSIM support toggle **persists across every boot**.

## How do I install a no-ID eSIM on GrapheneOS?

Turn on eSIM support, then add the eSIM with the QR code or the activation code from your UnlistedSIM account. Install it at home, on Wi-Fi, before you travel.

### Step by step

1. **Turn on eSIM support** — Go to Settings > Network & internet > eSIM support and switch it on (GrapheneOS usage guide).
2. **Open the QR code on another screen** — In your UnlistedSIM account, open My eSIMs: the QR code and the activation code appear as soon as the eSIM is ready, after the crypto top-up is credited.
3. **Add the eSIM** — Go to Settings > Network & internet > SIMs > Add SIM, the path Google documents for Pixel phones, then download an eSIM and scan the QR code. Menu labels can differ between GrapheneOS builds.
4. **If the QR code fails, type the activation code** — The code from your account starts with LPA: and contains the address of the profile server and a matching ID, in the GSMA standard format. Typing it in installs the same profile as the QR code.
5. **If it stops at "Checking network info..."** — The GrapheneOS guide says to enable DSDS in the phone's testing menu, opened with a dialler code, if the installation does not get past that stage despite a stable connection. The code is in the note below.
6. **Choose the eSIM for mobile data and turn on roaming when you land** — Keep your home SIM for calls and SMS, set the travel eSIM for mobile data, and turn on roaming for it: travel eSIMs usually connect in roaming.

**Installation stuck at "Checking network info..."?** The GrapheneOS usage guide says that you may need to dial `*#*#4636#*#*` and enable DSDS in the menu that opens, if the eSIM installation does not get past that stage despite a stable internet connection.

> **eSIM with a PIN** The GrapheneOS guide recommends leaving eSIM support on after activation if the eSIM is locked with a PIN. You can then disable the eSIM on the lock screen if you forget the PIN. With the toggle off and the PIN forgotten, only the PUK gives access to the device.

## Which Pixel phones can run GrapheneOS with an eSIM?

Every phone on GrapheneOS's official list has an eSIM: they are all Pixel phones from the Pixel 6 on, and Google says the Pixel 3a and later support eSIM. The one tablet on the list has no mobile network.

As of 9 October 2026, the GrapheneOS FAQ lists official production support for 21 devices: Pixel 10a, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10, Pixel 9a, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9, Pixel 8a, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8, Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet, Pixel 7a, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7, Pixel 6a, Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6. The Pixel Tablet is a Wi-Fi tablet with no mobile network, so it cannot use a mobile eSIM.

Google adds two details: from the Pixel 7, two eSIMs can be active at once if the carrier allows it, and the Pixel 10 and later models, except the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, are eSIM-only in the United States. ## What did the GrapheneOS forum test of no-KYC eSIMs find?

It reported how several no-KYC eSIMs behaved on GrapheneOS, and warned that buying without KYC does not hide network identifiers or location. A tester on the official GrapheneOS forum posted results on 21 May 2026 for several no-KYC eSIM sellers, including Silent.link, VoidMob, LNVPN (now nadanada) and PikaSim; read the thread for each result. These are a third party's findings, not ours, and the sellers may have changed since.

### No-KYC eSIM sellers in the GrapheneOS forum test

We sell eSIMs. Our plans are included in this comparison and marked: UnlistedSIM was not part of the test, and our row says what we have and have not published. Crypto lists come from each seller's own pages, checked on 9 October 2026.

| Seller | GrapheneOS activation | Crypto accepted | Exit IP |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| UnlistedSIM (us) | Not tested yet: no test published | BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC; no Monero | Per-plan exit country not published yet |

The tester's conclusions:

- **A no-ID purchase does not hide the device from mobile networks.** An eSIM deals with SIM registration and can give an IP address in another country, but it does not itself provide a VPN tunnel. The tester suggests adding a VPN.
- **Check the exit IP right after activation**, with an IP checker in the browser.
- **Routing transparency matters**: banking or authentication apps may lock you out when your location and your IP address do not match.

The tester criticised Silent.link for its single exit IP address, visible only by asking support. We have not published our own per-plan exit countries yet either: the [exit-IP registry](https://unlistedsim.com/exit-ip-registry/) says what we will publish and how we will measure it.

## Is a no-ID eSIM on GrapheneOS anonymous?

No. GrapheneOS hardens the phone's software, and a no-ID checkout keeps your identity out of the seller's records, but neither changes what a mobile network sees.

- **The visited network sees the device**: its IMEI, the device identifier, and its approximate location through the cells it connects to.
- **The profile server sees the eSIM chip**: the EID identifies the chip when the profile is downloaded.
- **Websites see the exit IP address** of the mobile connection, which may not be in the country you are visiting.
- **An eSIM does not itself provide a VPN tunnel.** Use a VPN if you need encryption.

That is why we describe UnlistedSIM as private checkout; networks still see device identifiers and location. The [who sees what](https://unlistedsim.com/who-sees-what/) page lists every party, and [is there an anonymous eSIM?](https://unlistedsim.com/anonymous-esim/) answers the question in full.

## What has UnlistedSIM not tested or published yet?

We would rather say it than let you assume it:

- **No GrapheneOS test of our own.** We have not published an activation test of our eSIMs on GrapheneOS. The steps above come from the GrapheneOS usage guide and Google's Pixel help. When we publish a dated test (device, build, plan), it will appear on this page.
- **No per-plan exit country yet.** The routing of each plan (home routing or local breakout) is not published.
- **No hotspot rule yet.** Whether each plan allows tethering is not published.
- **No 5G claim.** We do not claim 5G for our plans.
- **No Monero.** We don't accept XMR.

What is in place: no ID, no selfie, no email at checkout, a random account number as the login, crypto payment, and a QR code and activation code in your account. An eSIM that was never installed, or could not be delivered, is credited back to your balance.

## GrapheneOS and no-ID eSIMs: FAQ

### Do I need Google Play services to add an eSIM on GrapheneOS?

No. The GrapheneOS usage guide says eSIM management needs proprietary Google functionality, disabled by default, but does not depend on Google Play and never shares data with it, even when Google Play is installed. It does not connect to a Google service unless the carrier itself uses one. Turn it on in Settings > Network & internet > eSIM support.

### Which no-KYC eSIM works on GrapheneOS?

We cannot answer from our own tests yet: UnlistedSIM has not published a GrapheneOS test. A tester on the official GrapheneOS forum posted results on 21 May 2026 for several no-KYC eSIM sellers, including Silent.link, VoidMob, LNVPN (now nadanada) and PikaSim; read the thread for each result. The activation code follows the GSMA standard, so the installation steps do not depend on the seller.

### Can I turn eSIM support off after installing the eSIM?

Yes: eSIMs installed earlier keep working with baseline support. The GrapheneOS guide makes one exception: if the eSIM is locked with a PIN, leave eSIM support on, so you can disable the eSIM on the lock screen if you forget the PIN. With the toggle off and the PIN forgotten, only the PUK gives access.

### The installation stops at "Checking network info...". What do I do?

The GrapheneOS usage guide says you may need to enable DSDS in the phone's testing menu, which opens with a dialler code, if the installation does not progress past that stage despite a stable internet connection. The exact code is in the installation section of this page. Then try again, with the QR code or the activation code.

### Does GrapheneOS hide my IMEI from the mobile network?

No. Every mobile network the phone attaches to sees its IMEI and approximate location, whatever the operating system. Installing a new eSIM does not change the IMEI. A no-ID checkout keeps your identity out of our records, not out of the network's view of the device. An eSIM does not itself provide a VPN tunnel: use a VPN for that.

### Which country will my IP address be in on GrapheneOS?

It depends on the plan's routing, not on GrapheneOS. With home routing, the usual setup in roaming, the IP address comes from the network that issued the eSIM profile; with local breakout, it is local. We have not published our per-plan exit countries yet. Check it yourself right after activation: turn Wi-Fi off and open two IP lookup sites in the browser.

### Can I pay for a no-ID eSIM with Monero?

Not at UnlistedSIM: we don't accept Monero (XMR). We accept BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC, from a top-up of $10. Silent.link, nadanada (formerly LNVPN) and PikaSim list XMR on their own pages (checked 9 October 2026), and the forum tester reported that VoidMob accepts it. Our [pay privately guide](https://unlistedsim.com/pay-privately/) explains what each coin we accept reveals.
